TakeBag

Singapore's easiest way to recycle e-waste — free, from your doorstep.

Overview

Recycling,
minus the hassle.

TakeBag by KGS makes e-waste recycling effortless for Singapore households. By partnering with Pick Network, residents drop their e-waste at neighbourhood lockers — completely free, no appointments, no queues.

I took over TakeBag in March 2025, when it was doing barely six orders a week, and grew it into Singapore's most-used e-waste service.

The Starting Point

Six orders
a week.

When I came in, TakeBag had a great idea and almost no traction — around six orders a week, an Instagram account, and no paid marketing. The product wasn't the problem; awareness was.

Content & Community

Earning attention, not buying it.

Growth started with UGC — sending TakeBags to home creators for honest, organic reach. A collaboration with @aimrunn then turned the KGS account into the most-followed e-waste brand in Singapore, with content that educated people on recycling as much as it promoted the service.

Reasons to take part.

#HowManyKGS invited Singaporeans to weigh in and recycle. The Jan–Mar 2026 Declutter campaign paired e-waste recycling with a BRB Selfcare webinar on how decluttering supports mental health. Periodic giveaways — including NDP tickets — kept the community coming back.

Website & SEO

I re-coded
the store.

In May I reworked the TakeBag Shopify site directly in code — improving SEO, meta descriptions and adding new pages to lift performance. Orders rose almost 200%.

Performance Marketing

A funnel
that scales.

In June I rebuilt the ad strategy into a proper full funnel — top, middle and bottom — and added Google Ads alongside social. Performance scaled nearly 200% over the prior month.

On the Ground & In the News

In the community,
in the headlines.

We educate residents at division level — across Tanjong Pagar–Tiong Bahru, Zhenghua and Clementi — supporting government events and handing out TakeBags to interested residents. TakeBag also featured at StarHub's Bring Your Family To Work Day, where StarHubbers signed up on the spot.
